New rig £500

I'm looking into the prospects of upgrading my current rig and have about £500 to spend and would like to overclock it as much as possible.

At the moment im looking at the following setup:

E6400 £152.74
Gigabyte DS3 £ 82. 24
Team Extreme 2CB PC6400 £199.74
Tuniq Tower 120 £ 35.24

With P&P total of £480.74

I'll be using GPU,Hard drive,PSU etc from my current setup so if anyone has a better list than the one i've got please feel free to advise me.
 
Very good components there, but how old and what make is your PSU? If your PSU is on its last legs then it could take all your new kit with it.
 
Personally, I wouldnt pay that amount on the ram, I think the amount of extra speed you would get isnt worth the cash, and would rather get Geil 2GN ram instead.

I have heard that the P5N-E is better than the DS3 for RAM options, but I only own a P5N, so dont have a real handle on what the DS3 can do.

£4300 is another option too, mine (with the geil ram, and the mentioned motherboard) can hit 3300 mhz with ease on a retail cooler.

I would take a good look at the PSU though, I would rather get something like the Corsair 520W PSU if you aren't 100 percent sure your PSU isnt great. For example, it has good rails (not just high wattage) and also is a 24 pin one, and not a 20 pin.
 
The PSU is a 3 month old Enermax 460W with 34A on the 12v Rail. Its powering 2 x opteron 285's, X1950 pro and 4 HDD at the moment so I hope that it's going to be good enough.
 
Yes the graphics card is a PCIe, The PSU i think should be able to handle it especially as i'm now using it with 2 opteron 285's. It does come with a 20 pin lead, I've had to get a 20 to 24 pin adaptor to use it on this board.
 
PSU will be fine, but I would go for the Asus P5N-E SLi and the Geil 6400 ram, will save you a fair bit and overclock just as well.
