All,

looking at building a new rig, here is the components I am thinking of:

  • EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC ACX Superclock 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (03G-P4-2784-KR)
  • Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
  • Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI GENE Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
  • BitFenix Prodigy M MATX Cube Case - Midnight Black

Are these OK?

Looking for best air CPU cooler - quite and powerful to allow overclock.
Also looking for PSU recommendation - what wattage and manufacturer.
Also recommend RAM want 16GB - will run Windows 8.1 64bit OS
No Optical drive

Thanks all

Regards
Ian

The ATI R9 290 series are better value for money and as fast, if not faster than the 780.

CPU is fine, motherboard is fine and case is fine.

PSU wise, the Bitfenix Prodigy will take up to a 160mm deep regular PSU, less if going modular. I'd go with the Superflower. Plenty of power and a good, reliable brand

YOUR BASKET
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 650W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £65.99
Total : £75.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Ram wise, if you can afford it get the quick stuff. This stuff is good, comes with a lifetime warranty and offers good performance for the cost

YOUR BASKET
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD316G2133HC11ADC01) £129.95
Total : £138.65 (includes shipping : £7.25).

Thanks guys.

Budget wise not really worried just want to keep costs to less than 1500 quid.

Funny I am not keen on ATI - but will look at the suggestion.

Need a CPU cooler - not gonna go Water on this build will stick to air until the Next CPU's come out.
