Currently I'm just using an old Gateway Core 2 duo @1.8Ghz, 1Gb RAM laptop which was running Windows Vista but I upgraded to Windows 7. It's been fine for now till I started getting interested in web design, graphic design and video editing through college. At first I'd just do all of that at college but now I've left I'm getting bored not being able to do any of that without my laptop crashing.

So basically I'm looking for a complete rig, I know I want a BenQ 22" monitor.

Just want recommendations on what processor, motherboard, ram, graphics card, psu, hard drive, optical drive (was just thinking a basic Sony DvDRw), cooling, wireless keyboard and mouse.

I don't need a OS.

General use will be obviously browsing but I'm also starting a summer project, I want to create a website to showcase my portfolio of images and videos. So obviously I'll be using the computer for graphic design work on Photoshop/Illustrator and editing some Xbox gameplay in Sony Vegas mostly (720p videos).

Budget is around £500-700 for the components. Will use an old monitor for now.
If need be I'll use an old keyboard and mouse I have for now if it means slightly better specs.

Thanks. :).

Well, no gaming means no graphics card needed. And as it's video editing etc it seems an i7 2600k is just right for you along with a Z68 board to use onboard graphics. How about something like this which includes your 22" BenQ but not mouse and keyboard?

only thing im not too sure on is the case. i was looking for something with the noise insulating foam pre-installed. without spending £200+ the only cases that came to mind were the coolermaster silencio and the fractal XL. with all the complaints about the fractal XL ive seen in the cases section i went for the silencio

also, dont forget that the silencio has a max cooler height of 154mm, which is why i went for the same cooler i have in my build. believe me, i put in a tonne of time looking for a cooler that was 153mm tall or less (thats the max height of my case)

Didn't realise I could get i7 with my budget hmm.
So no gfx cards needed. I thought I might need one for watching blurays or 1080p playback films. If not that saves a lot of money.

Would I be able to use the coolermaster nvidia case with this build?

Sorry I just like the led's and stuff. Unless it's not that hard to put in LED's into that silent case. Not keen on the blue led coolermaster one above.
