new rig, AM2 and conroe questions inside

ive been wondeirng about the Am2 for a while myself, im budgetting myself roughly £1000 on a new pc around june as it is soive been looking in to it, but is buying one of these first generation AM2's and the 800mhz DDR2 really going to pay off for me?

any idea on the price of AM2 ? or should i just go full whack on a current AMD and get some high quality DDR ??

also what about this intel conroe(sp?) ?

any release or information on that would be appreciated?

AM2 has a planned release date of Q2 2006 and Conroe Q3 2006

I would either get a Socket 939 system now or wait for Conroe as AM2 will most likely not offer a great speed increase and will be more expensive when just released compared to a Socket 939 system now.

im wondering if all these lovely pieces will go togethers like 7 piece jigsaw,or are some of them not compatible, alsoshould i post this in a different section @_@??

im pretty sure the stuff i picked is nice a high quality, also wondering about overclock posibilties as things start to pick up and i need to squeeze more juice out of it.

Spec looks nice apart from the Thermaltake PSU.

I would get a Enermax, Seasonic, OCZ or FSP PSU as it is the most important component for stability

Yep looks like a nice system, if you wait for the new chips to come out the 939 set will propably drop a fair bit in price. I have gone for Maxtor drives in my new system but i have had bad experience with almost all brands of HDD's and my last system had maxtors in that are 3 years old without ever giving me any problems and i hate WD (5 returns in a row a year or two ago put me off them for life).

however for xfire you need a hefty single rail, the tagan 580 has that.

Agree'd to pretty much everything that has been said so far... Seasonic PSU and Seagate/WD HDD's 4TW.

Other than that, looks like a nice system to me chief

well i changed the hard drive for a seagate and a sparkle PSU( 500w)

my friend was very impressed the specs on the machine and got me to order it all twice so he couldhave one <3
