Hi guys, i got a quick question. Like lots of us, i am still waiting for the arrival of bulldozer, only thing that stopping me from building a rig based on 2005/6k intel.

So far, what i'll get is:
bulldozer (if and when its out)
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 (phase 8+2)
Asus 2gb 6950 directcu ii
xms3 8g ram
ssd ocz agility 3
asus xonar hg (got that)
1tb samsung hdd (which i already have)
aurora 3d case (which i also own and modded for big gfx cards)
akasa powermax 850w (got that as well)
not gonna go through all the cooling and fan controllers and all that, not relevant

basically i will be running single gpu, not planning to merge 2 cards at any point, since i am using single monitor (SyncMaster p2450), gpu i chose should be fine for gaming and video editing. Do i need 990 chipset or i can go for say 970, since i read that the only benefit in 990 is if your running dual gfx cards. i dont need a massive mobo, maybe 2-3 pci to fit soundcard so that it does not obstruct gfx card

Can anyone shed some light on this setup, surely some of you already have that but with maybe 1090T, or better gpu for simmilar price range

Any info/suggestions would be great, thanks

all looks good, and supports crossfire/SLI to boot. not really a lot of point in changing to a cheaper motherboard, because its not that much cheaper

obviously it'll be best to wait till bulldozer arrives because everything will have dropped in price (and you'll be able to tell if bulldozer is any good)

I hope you enjoy it when Bulldozer comes out in 2014, I'm sure that computer part prices won't have changed at all by then. Your spec plan is flawless.

joking aside, if the OP waits for another couple of months he could easily save 10%. my £450 PC could now be bought for £400

from reading around bit last night, bulldozer might be delayed till q3 which is like erm Sept/Oct time? still while off

A good idea might be to build the build now?
and
just stick in cheap phenom x4 (<£100) at least then you can start to enjoy build now, then when BD pops up and you like looks of it slap in new 6? 8core cpu in to the build.

Is there a cpu cooler in there? for less noise/overclocking ability?

Thanks for the input guys, amazingly fast as well, deffo comin back to the forums.

All i basically need is sata3, usb3 and a good build mobo, which will prolly cost me around a £100 mark. Prices did drop by quiet a bit especially on amd cpus since the news of dozer, 1100t and 1090t went down by almost £30-40 at least

Thats the only thing that annoys me quiet a bit, around a month ago my build was based on phenom ii x6 1090t which i sold becouse heard big news about bulldozer coming out, i didnt loose much, bought it for 160 sold it for 140 and now it can be bought for 130, so if i decide to go back its not a massive loss.

I already had 1090t and just cant buy it again, i want dozer :D cheaper version of cpu could work, but i want to see the whole thing come together, been on the laptop for 2-3 months now, kinda got used to it, but laptop is a laptop..

Was stuck on laptop in jan/feb this year, as soon as B3 rev boards came out i grabbed an i5 2500k build, in Feb/march people were talking about waiting for BD :D but tbh.. i have had so much use/enjoyment out of build im glad i went with i5 system (Oc to 4.4ghz as far as my cheap mobo will go... will know to put bit more money into a mobo next time doh!).

Grab am3+ board ,any chip and get system up and running, sort out any teething problems etc before BD comes out :)

Stop temptin me with intel :D might actually consider gettin pre-bd am3+ setup only problem if its bad or costs something silly, id be bummed

Sorry mate :P but ye know theres always new tech around corner at some point you've got think about trade off between getting a build up and running today and enjoying it soooo much vs... erm waiting an unknown amount of time :P

and you know intel are better than amd? *runs away* /giggle
