Is it better to wait for the DX10 cards and buy then, or will I be sorted for quite a while if I buy now?

Also, which one of you wants to put my system together for me and install the OS for me to save me the hassle? Will pay very well! :p

the eternal question buy now or wait.

i took the option of getting a 1950pro for £130 and use that till i the right dx10 card i want comes out besides no games use dx10 and i ainty getting vista till summer or autumn next year.

how ever if you have a large screen more than 1280x1024 res then you may want to get a faster gfx now so you can have eye candy on :)

You make a good point, yeah, I have the Dell 2005FPW, so 1680 x 1050.

Which CPU and GPU go well together? Everything else will fit into place, they're just the main two to sort out really! Looking top end if that's any help, games and video editing.

if you want top top end then this is it they are both on special this week soo

BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £329.99
(£387.74) £329.99
(£387.74)
Intel Core 2 Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £549.99
(£646.24) £549.99
(£646.24)
Shipping : £8.25
Vat : £155.44
Total : £1,043.67

how ever that price is very high soo just incase you dint want to spend quite that much you could get

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £247.99
(£291.39) £247.99
(£291.39)
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £182.99
(£215.01) £182.99
(£215.01
Shipping : £8.25
Vat : £76.87
Total : £516.10

this second option is about half the price of the first but i would say still has about 80% of the performance and thats with out overclocking.

Is there a Dual Core 3Ghz one? Or is that just an overclocked one on the OCuk site?

The second one sounds good, how good is the GTS?

Would you build it for me for a fee?

I know how to do it..but I can't be arsed, put simply. I'm not too confident with doing the overclocking and want someone to do it for me that has done it before and knows what they're doing exactly.

I just don't have the time and/or patience.

the fastest dual core is

Intel Core 2 DUO Extreme Edition X6800 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.93GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £579.99
(£681.49) £579.99
(£681.49)

as you can see it costs more than the quad core.

nearly all core2duo chips will happily overclock to 3ghz,and more with the 6600 and 6700. with a little know how and help on here.

as for the building its nice offer, i do build my own machines but i only ever done 4 and im not exactly 100% confident doing it soo wouldnt want mess anyhing up on yoru nice new system espeically as it aint a cheap one lol.

i have mine overclocked but its first time i have done it. and i kinda of cheated lol when i specked my new machine up i basically copied a machine from a review on overclocking on the motherboard i wanted online used all the same stuff and used there settings :Dthey went higher then me but mine is easy fast enogh for now :)

Darn, getting my hopes up. :( I really want something like that, a service, even if it's £50 to OCuk to build it for me, that'd be nice.

Yeah, they probably charge about 200 quid to build it for you.

Its easy enough to check though....choose the build you would go for and add the same components to your shopping basket, price difference is the build cost your paying.

If your not prepared to build yourself, and you don't have a friend that would build it for you, then your gonna have to pay.
