New Rig Decisions

Really in a quandry as to what route to go,

Going to be putting together my new rig next month, its my first new rig in a few years so doing a scratch build. I want it to last me but I'm going to be going 1440p with a high refresh rate (144hz)

I can either get 2 970s when I get the rig, or get a 980 and then put another in in it a few months down the line.

What do you guys reckon is the best option?

AMD are releasing new 300 series cards this quarter, that will be worth waiting for especially if you are not buying immediately.

As for right now, a single GTX970 does a grand job at 1440P gaming.

Yea I'd hold off a little if possible. Even if you have no intentions of going AMD there could be a price drop on the 980s.
