New Rig Help Please!

Hey guys,

So I have around 800-1000 Pounds to spend on building my own PC. This includes Case, Motherboard, CPU, GPU, Ram and Cooler. I have my own moniter's, keyboard, mouse and power supply (CX 600).

Basically I tried to compile a list of components myself, but realized that I was simply picking parts on aesthetic view, such as the Z77 Sabertooth motherboard, which I don't actually know much about I just love how it looks.

So I was hoping you guys could help me inject some common sense into building a good rig!.

Thanks.

Thanks for the help!

What's wrong with the RAM if I might ask Bacon ^^?

Also just wondering if there's a big difference between the EVGA brand 670 card and the suggested Palit card?

Also saying as I have a few pounds extra with this setup, is there any advantage to a Z77 Sabertooth motherboard over the suggest, and a H100 cooler over a fan heatsink? Or is it just looks and no extra performance except against your wallet.

Not trying to argue against suggestions of course, just interested.

Thanks again!

Ack, One thing I totally forgot to mention. I want to upgrade to SLI in the future, I know that I'll have to get a new PSU when I do but will that motherboard be compatible?. Sorry.

RAM wise the Corsair is quite tall by the looks of it which interferes with air coolers quite often.

I think the Palit is quieter since it has dual fans rather than a single fan to keep it cool.

Motherboard wise there generally isnt much difference, but I dont know a great deal about the high end boards ;)

Cooler wise. There is only a little performance difference between the H100 and the high end end coolers. The H100 being slightly better but a lot louder unless you replace the standard fans (more money)

The K2 should clear the ram although you would be better with low profile as it would let you mount the front fan flush with the top of the heatsink :)

Just picked the RAM for the colour and it's good reviews.

Low profile RAM is better just to be sure but i do think it will clear. :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Palit GeForce GTX 670 Jetstream 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £309.95
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x MSI Z77A-GD65 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** With FREE GeIL Black Dragon 8GB Kit ** £159.98
1 x Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower Case - Limited Edition White £145.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/LGA2011/AM2/AM3) (CWCH100) £85.98
Total : £903.40 (includes shipping : £13.75).

Thoughts? ^^. Is there much difference asides from noise from the KPA2 and the Palit version? If it performs better that's cool, but I'd rather suffer noise than how ugly they've made that card look, XD.

Dunno, but there's a hell of a lot of noise difference between the H100 and the K2, not to mention £26 :D

Not a fan then eh? I do intend on overclocking, So I'll probably research a little about them both and see which one cools better. 26 Pounds is a fair bit.

It's a good cooler, no doubt about that. It's just that those fans are rather loud and reports of pump noise/issues and leakage are not uncommon.
If you do go for it, be prepared to spend more on replacement fans at the least if you're at all sensitive to things like that :)

Replacement fans are fairly cheap, so that's not so bad. Leaking sounds pretty damn scary though. Is it covered by warranty if it does leak and damage other components?

Since decent fans for the task will cost at least £20 a pair, you're then at least £45 down over an air cooler that would done virtually the same job with none of the hassle.

Will probably last a lot longer too.

It makes sense to me, but I'm sure there are many happy H100 owners out there :)

I've heard good things about Corsairs warranty, but I couldn't say for sure.

Yeah, didn't think good fans would cost that much. Think I'll stick with a solid air cooler, and maybe if I have some change lying about in the future, play with one then.

Thanks!
