New rig incoming with a old Monitor

So basically ive just ordered myself a fairly high spec rig (i7/gtx1060/16gb ram) which will solely be used for gaming/video watching and thats about it. I bought a Asus VE228HR 22" last year and it was fairly cheap back then and my knowledge of monitors sucks.

Is this going to hold me back to fully enjoy the quality my new rig will produce in games and if so by how much? I have kind of stretched to my budget limit to build this PC and would be really stretching upgrading my screen, What should I be looking at to purchase to get a true upgrade from my current screen.

^^What he said. The GTX1060 is a good GPU for 1080p. You could buy a Gsync screen which would certainly make a difference, but your existing monitor won't be holding you back in any way.
