Hi all,

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ
Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 160GB
Samsung SH-S182D 18x18 DVD±RW ReWriter (Black) - OEM
Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS Aluminium Midi-Tower Case - Black
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB)

I have it all put together, Each DIMM in a yellow slot (0 and 2). HSF fitted properly, power to video card.

However I'm getting nothing on power on.. all the fans are spinning up OK but no beep or video (I tried turning the speaker connector around in case this was wrong... Can someone confirm that the triangle on the connectors is negative please?)

I'd really appreciate some advice - I've tried both ports on the video card as I'm not sure which one would be the primary....?

Cheers in advance!

Well I can try turning those around :) The power button is obviously working OK.. I don't think my mobo connectors for LEDs would stop the machine from POSTing anyhow :p

I've just tried with one stick of RAM and still no change...

Been a bad omen from the start LOL... Citylink take 3 days to do my next day delivery and now it's refusing to play nice :)

hehe! well, don't panic just yet. Try each module in all slots on the board. Try clearing CMOS - sometimes helps.

You didn't mention what mobo you running there?

Edited above post... clearing CMOS... can I do this while the PC is off? Use a screwdriver to short the clear cmos terminals correct?

looks like the clear cmos jumper is right under the video card... great design :(

Mines just under the graphics card too. Hard to get at... just take it out of its current position (should be 3 pins there in total) and put the plug on the other two pins leave it for about 5 sec and then put it back in the position it was in. Should tell you in the manual how to clear CMOS!

Make sure your Ram is connected properly.

And also make sure you have connected the 4 pin connector to the motherboard from the power supply.

LOL when i was putting my System back together i connected everything and pushed the power button, the fans were spinning but i wasent getting any video :( then i relised i didnt connect the 4 pin connector from the PSU to the motherboard.

As soon as i did this everything was working :) :)

Ive certainly had problems starting up a DFI board until the connectors where done properly...worth double checking

But the fan wouldnt be spinning on the CPU if the motherboard ATX power wasn't connected. Worth taking it out though and placing it back in.

That sorted it! If I was a girl I'd want your babies!

I did see the 4 pin connector and was looking for where it went and thought wth?? It's obscured by the AF7 Pro. Had to check the manual for that.

I'm in the BIOS screen now... Am I right in saying that displaying temp in BIOS loads the CPU? Temp is showing 28*C at the moment with CPU fan speed @ 410RPM.

I've set to 266 x7 for the moment for stock. Installing Win2K at the moment so that will be a good test. I'll get the usual tools and make sure the thing is stable and OK for temperatures then I think I'll give the old overclocking a shot :)

Cheers... Sure I'll be back, but will probably call it a night at installing the OS. Disabled the "intelligent" fan control in the BIOS. Temps much better on full blast :p

Well, it kept freezing on installing windows so I upped the DIMM voltage by +0.1v and that seems ok.

Thanks for the help guys - gonna head to bed and stress test/OC tomorrow :)

Running 2 SP2004 and TAT I see idle of 37/35 and with SP2004 running x 2 I get temps of 44/42.... Is this reasonable? It's quite warm in the room itself.
