Chaps,

Just got myself a Lian-Li V1000 Plus and an Enermax Liberty 620W PSU.

My question is regarding which way to have the 120mm fan pointing? At current, I have it pointing downwards, out of the case bottom (holes etc).

Is this correct? Or should they be assembly the other way up?

Andy

You have it spot on :)

The fan will pull cool air from under the case to cool the PSU, keeping its temperature lower than in a normal case where it is getting hot air to cool it, meaning it runs quieter and for longer :)

Good choices on the case and psu aswell.

Thanks for your help.

Right i know this is the Case forum but gunna ask this question anyhow!

My current PC has a cable running from the mobo to the DVDRW drive, mainly for sound I THINK, i.e. so when i put an audio cd in the drive it uses it as music etc through the mobo audio

Right, my new rig, in build stages, Asus Premium mobo, does not seem to have any of this cables or plugs from the mobo?

Does this mean that since my old comp the mobos have advanced and no longer need this cable into the drive? i.e. just needs IDE and power to the drive?

Yewen,

I'm gunna have a few questioning about my cables etc so that i'm sure of it before i boot up, so can i email you pictures for advice rather than reposted all the time.

You seem like a competent computer chappy.

:D

Groovy,

Despite what i said i've got the baby powered up anyway, and she's running fine.

Few more questions tho....

Currently, with the layout of the mobo, I have the 120mm fan on the rear plugged in the PWR 3 pin port on the mobo (almost dead centre), the front 120 plugged into CHA_2, and the fan for the PSU plugged into CHA_1.

Now, my question is, with this setup, will the PSU fan not be running fast enough and the mobo sees it as the chassis fan? Its just when I stick my hand in the gap at the bottom of the gap between PSU and case it dont seem to strong air wise...

Just worried that the cooling has all gone to pot....

The reason i arranged them like this is cause otherwise the rear fan would have to stretch right across the mobo to the CHA_2 port, and thus cutting right over the graphics card etc...

Seems fairly cool at the moment, but advice on this one would be wicked.

Sadly, OCuk had sold out of the PC3200 TwinX Corsair 2gb sticks, so currently running it with some old PC2700 outta my old comp, still seems nippy tho compared to my old P4 2ghz :D

The PSU will be temperature sensative most likely, and will speed up when it gets hotter, if it ever needs to.

All seems fine by what you have said :)

Cool, I wasn't sure if the sockets for the fans etc on the mobo were only for purely power or sensitive to temperature, but if the PSU is controlled independently then all good.

Seems to be running good now, just need to do some cable management and wait for my new ram :D
