Right it's 3 years since I built my last computer and I've decided it's now time to splash out on something new.

Basically the main aim is to be able to play games like Crysis on my 30" Dell with high settings. I'll also be doing some work on it but it's the running of games I'm more concerned with! :D

I've attached a screenshot of a possible configuraion below and have a few questions regarding it.

1) I have 2 x GTX 280s in the basket but for an extra £100 or so I could get 2 Radeon HD 4870 X2s. I've only ever used Nvidia cards before so which would be the best option for gaming?

2) I like the look of the Antec P190 gaming case but will the fact that it has a dual power supply mean it will be ok for running 2 graphics cards?

3) There is 8GB DDR3 in the basket. Would it be better to stick with this or to get 4GB of something faster?

4) Is there anything completely obvious that I've missed out?

Thanks in advance.

Thats a very nice rig! if you wana spend the money on ddr3 doubt you'd need 8gb just for gaming might be better spending it on faster memory and just having 4 gb. Plus the samsung 320/640gb f1s are faster because they use higher density 320gb platters

spending north of 2k on a rig (with £650 on a mobo and cpu) with a new core and socket out in a few months... hmmm

also X48 motherboards don't support sli.

How many months though - I am looking to buy now.

Fair point on the lack of SLI support on the X48 motherboard.

It'd be a better economy to get a cpu and a mobo that aren't top of the range, the rest of the hardware should transfer (ddr3 will be better by then though)

october the first chips are out, apparently.

also, if I was spending over 2k, I'd want some form of velociraptor action in there.
