As per subject really.

Looking for 4.0GHz+ and quad for video encoding etc... hence my CPU choice. In addition, not sure if I should wait for the New Nvidia GPU's (for gaming) and the Lian-li PC-A77 (due any day now)??

What do you think guys?

2x Velociraptors and 2x 9800GTX's BTW.

Definately wait, you'd have to be out of your tiny tree to spend ~£450 on cards just before new ones come out.

This is close to a upgrade i was gonna do, same chip, 4gb corsair ddr3 and only1 9800gx2 and same mobo.. just out of interest what is getting upgraded?, is it the graphics card to a 9900? or is it a new mobo or is it the chip? or is it a few of em?..

many TIA

I think I'm happy with my choice of board, HDD's, CPU and RAM (may go 4GB though). Just waiting for the Lian-Li PC-A77 case and Nvidia 9900GTX or whatever they are calling it. Should not have long to wait now me thinks... hell I've been waiting months already to build this (reading reviews/waiting for Velociraptors etc.)

- may as well wait couple of weeks for new card,
- may consider 4GB DDR2 instead of 2GB DDR3 (no real justification for it now)
- may also consider a cheaper 750 board unless you are adament on 3 way sli and DDR3 (but will you see any REAL benefit from this today?)
- get a Q9450 instead of QX9650 (since you plan to OC and save over £400 - basically same chip just a locked multiplier)

in the end you will save a substantial amount of money for a small performance difference. FYI - Intel's Nehalem is out in just a few months and will require a new mobo with LGA 1366 socket, basically rendering your substantial investment old tech.

I really do not think that today is the right time for a major high-end system build, personally I am waiting until Nehalem which will require a substantial systems upgrade.

Save your money which you will need later on this year, coz it ain't going to be cheap.
