Hi there everyone!

First time poster, long time reader here :)
Hoping to get some others' opinions on a a long overdue new build I'll be buying come july 22nd drops.

Budget is about 1100, but don't mind stretching a bit if you have any better reccomendations, main purpose is as a gaming rig, will be overclocking a bit, and I game at both 1680x1050 and 1920x1200.

Already have a raptor 150gb I'll be migrating from current rig (os/apps), plus already got a decent sound card, so bar those I'm just looking for a complete tower build with 2 new HDDs. I'll either be going for a E6750 or E6850, still deciding.

A few Qs:
- What are your cpu cooler recommendations?
- Are 7200.10's currently best for preformance? or should I be looking at WD 7200rpm offerings? won't be raiding, and noise output isn't much of a bother to me.

Many thanks for any advice/suggestions you may have guys, appreciate it.

Hard drive is fine. Cooler.. should go for a Tuniq Tower 120, Thermaltake Ultra 120, or the Noctua NH-U12F.

Whats the reason for the two hard drives if you wont be putting them in a RAID?

I would get Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme as the CPU cooler.

I dont like the case myself but hey you have chosen it.

I would go for the E6750 over the E6850. When you see the price of it on the 22nd/after you will now why. :D

Everything else looks top notch. :)

Cool, thank you kindly for the replies guys,

Was gonna to have a seperate hdd as a scratch/backup disk for my audio/art/print work, but decided now I'm gonna give raid 0 a go and see if I like it (never had the pleasure of using a raid 0 system before :D)

Got any case recommendations? Just liked the internal simplicity and layout of the p182, saw it had some pretty decent reviews around the web, suggestions on some alternatives to check out though are more than welcome! :) case budget is £100ish

Decided gonna go for:

*Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme (Socket AM2/LGA775) Heatsink
- £39.99 (£46.99)

*Scythe S-FLEX 1600RPM Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin
- £10.99 (£12.91)

good combo? the E6750 looks like the nice sweet spot, currently leaning more in it's direction at the mo, just scouring the web gathering up all the overclocking results on the retail chips I can before next week :p

As far as HDD's go the current best performers are the WD AAKS range, which can be found here. Though of course the Seagate HDD's are very nearly as good and still an excellent choice.

As for the case, the Antec P182 is very good indeed and I wouldn't change it. I'll be getting one when I build a new PC soon.

The 520W Corsair would be more than enough for that spec, although the 620W would provide future proofing if you plan to upgrade GPU's and CPU's in the future.

An excellent choice of CPU cooler and fan you suggested, can't really get any better than that.

I would also go for the E6750 over E6850, as it will probably clock very nearly as high and is signifcantly cheaper.

Good luck mate. :D
