I have keyboard, mouse and speakers already from my old setup

Any known problems with the components in the setup or are there any better alternatives? Im not too fussed with switching between Nvidia/Ati but i would prefer an AMD processor and AM2 socket, also is sli/crossfire worth paying slightly extra for?

Is it possible i could get an estimation for my old rig's price as i am unsure of its worth at the current time, specs are:

Athlon 64 3400+ with AC Freezer 64
BFG Geforce 6800GT 256mb
Asus K8V SKT754
80GB Maxtor HD
LG dvd rom
Samtron 76E 19 inch crt monitor
Corsair Value 1024mb (2x 512) DDR400 PC3200
Its only letdown is the case/psu which is Raidmax cobra case + psu

Thanks for reading :)

To be perfectly honest i dont know why i guess my only experience with intel have been sub par yet my 3400+ has been superb. I also noticed the conroe's are relatively expensive could i still obtain a similar setup with the other components if i was to change to a conroe? I always end up with it being £100 more expensive than what i was aiming for going with a conroe.

yes

BUT

swap the CPU for a

Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-126-IN)

AND

use the extra money saved to swap the graphics to a

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-053-CO)

:)

Yep, the 6300 is VERY likely to hit 3.0ghz with ease too, and there is no AMD at any price to match it at that speed. Go and check out some benchmarks ;)

I've heard good things about the ds3/ds4 mobo but i think its a lil outta my price range. Anything that can clock relatively decently thats sub £80 because i havent heard anything about the Asrock oc'ing much or at all. It's a shame to get a conroe and not oc it.

How about the MSI 965P NEO (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard?
