Hey all

I am looking for some help. I do find my self to be quite proficient in computer hardware, however would like to ask for some advice

I have quite a decent system so far, but my problem is that i am now wanting to water cool my SLi 480's as they just produce way to much heat and fan noise to really fully enjoy gaming.

My other problem is that i think it would be best to add a secondary radiator to the loop that way from GPU >> to radiator >> to CPU would be much better than just GPU >> CPU loop as the GPU would already be hot and be responsible for making the CPU hot too.

the Sandybridge 2600k CPU i have which is currently water cooled with a 1/4 loop with a full size radiator, swiftec liang v5 pump .

So all in all, new radiator, new GPU blocks, New case. ( Reason for the case is because ThermalTake Kandalf black case doesn't have backend fittings for tubes.

GPU water blocks ( This is what i had in mind )

Case : I need suggestions for a case that is great at cooling and has water cooling compatibilities.

Watercooling idea :

Pump >> GPU >> Backend Radiator >> CPU > Reservior > Main Radiator >> Pump.

All will be 1/4 fittings inpart from the GPU koolance 480's block.

....

Overall i am limited at the moment due to the noise of the GPU's and the case space as its a thermaltake kandalf case.

Your suggestions and ideas are appreciated thanks.

A mod will move your thread into the correct forum shortly no doubt (general hardware) as general discussion is for everything else but PC problems :P

Also, word of warning, you need to remove or obscure your final picture as you have a magazine with a direct competitors advert on the back, which is against the rules of this forum.

See the FAQ for more details.

Welcome to OcUK!

Xigmatek Elysium.

Or, if you fancy a challenge, you could mod a Phantom, like me :)

If you need any other advice, check out the water-cooling guide a wrote, it's a stickied thread in this sub forum :)

am good with watercooling thanks, am just looking for a case suited to the loop required with two radiators.

want it cooled so that the OC can be altered for GPU and CPU.

Ok :)

As I said, xigmatek Elysium, or NZXT Phantom would be my preferred. The phantom as I said would require a small amount of work, but by god it is worth it :)

actually i take that back the white pahntom you modded looks like the case suited !!!

i can stick on three ratiators in total by the looks there in your thread. one at the bottom one at the top and one at the back. The nly downfall i see there is that the case just isnt big enough.

and it has the PSU on show as well, yes its at the bottum, but its not split into two seperate areas feeding the wiring through a hole.

There is plenty room enough, especially if you were to mount the third rad externally :)

As for the psu being on show, that doesn't really matter unless you cut a custom side window like me :)

Although I do have a good looking psu, and as long as you are good with cable management aesthetics in that are won't be compromised :) I spent half an hour on my rig just sortin cables :D

Yeah, it's all in my build log, which you can access by clicking my sig :) there are a lot of pictures, but it's worth it if you are going to watercool a phantom ;)

Xigmatek Elysium Insane case. flawed firstly by the psu and rad mount ! how are ya suppose to wire the psu with a 240 ml rad without modding.

Its also built for duel Xeon CPU setup, which means there is a gaping hole on the right side near the gromits.

the roof of the Xigmatek Elysium case. i like the roof with the full rad, thats top stuff.

3 fan rad in the roof a 4 fan rad in the front, a 2 fan rad at the bottom. That is insane !

can also run the psu at the bottom or the top. this is something i think am gonna just have to consider. looks amazin

So far i think the Xigmatek Elysium case is the best option. The rads that you can use internally should be awesome.

How would you use a 4 fan rad inside the drive bay section ?

and how would you mount a reserviour balancer tube inside the case as well. like near the grommits area. suggestions would be appreciated for this.

Not entirely sure about that, I guess you would use a custom rad bracket for the front of the case.

As for the bottom rad, you can mod the bottom of the case to move the rad forward, I did it with my phantom :)

It states in his video blog that you can mount into the actual bay the rad that is.

Am getting the case today :) Just so i can then evaluate what i can do with it.

am gonna need some tools if i am to mod the case at the bottom. Suggestions on tools ?

I ideally would like a 360 mil rad in the bay area and a 360 rad on the roof. Leaving the space atthe bottom for the pump.

I am also wanting to mount a res tube fitting as well. any ideas on this ?

thanks dude for your help so far

Dremel 300.

'Nuff said. For 37 quid it's a cracking piece of kit :)

As for the res tube fitting, if you get a bracket for it you could drill screw holes into the case and mount it like that :)

gotta get all the parts first :) need to get the koolance waterblocks for the 480's yet, additional fittings cpu block, gotta get the tube res and then do some modding :) gonna be at least a week away and a working progress :) but when finished they will go up :).

cant believe how big the case is, i keep forgetting that its built for a duel cpu mobo not single.

Yeah, if I hadn't have got the phantom, probably would have got the Elysium, sprayed it White and done a custom window jobbie. I think I like White cases too much :D
