My current rig, was a watercooled i7 920 setup which has been running happily for around 4 years or so now.

I'm looking to build my own next, and have chosen the following

I don't need anything apart from the base - monitors keyboard etc I have. SSD and mech drive will be clawed back from my current rig.

I think I have already decided to change the ram too - to the corsair dominator platinum.

Can you guys give any suggestions / advice on the following ?

Budget is around £1,500

I'm pretty set on the Shinobi xl now - I needed something that would hold the rad easily, but also give me 5 drive bays I can use for my blu-ray drive, dual bay res, fan controller and my veris unit. I do a fair bit of video editing and graphic work too, so I think the 4770k would help out there a bit.

get the nzxt switch 810 (or phanteks enthoo primo if you can up your case budget)
these are much better cases than the shinobi xl

I like all of those cases - the Corsair ones probably the most. Just a shame they dont have more drive bays - I need 5 external ones, and so many cases I have liked have only 3 or 4. I've sat questioning myself, do I really need a blu-ray / dvd drive, I never really use it..........

Grrrr dont know what to do now.

You need 5 OD bays for what?

I can understand 2 for a Res and one for a OD but what are the rest for?

Fan controller? That can be PWM or taking up a PCI-E slot.

An OD can be external (not in the case atall, attached via USB).

You can even go for an internal Res.

Many many options.

yeah - dual bay res.
blu-ray drive
fan controller
vfd
I just like the look / setup of the front bays.

I've changed a lot of the config and changed a fair few things, but looking at some vids online, im really not sure whether im going to have room. Wanted a rad top and bottom, but then no idea where i could put the ssd and mech drives - as the drive rack would need to be removed..... then that's with a bay res. I'm just not that comfortable with building a full loop from total scratch, and touch wood - apart from draining and filling, ive had a 750 running for nearly 4 years now with no problems at all, so have been happy with the XSPC kit.

Is there any easy way for me to post the contents of my basket now that I have changed a load of stuff ?

Awesome cheers Lee - I thought i was going to spend half an hour copying all the links hahahahh

ok so i've been trying to work out some placement in the case, but to be honest im not really sure the best setup for the tubing etc.

The HDD case will be removed ( i have 1 mech and 1 ssd drive, and not sure where I am going to be able to mount them then ? )

I've changed both the 360 and 240 rads for the x flow versions, so that the threads are diagonal instead of both on the same sides.

Excuse my paint skills cos to be honest, they are crap hahahah - its not to scale but im trying to work out the route from the bottom 240 rad back to the bay res, and it looks like its going to be awkward......

Ok, so I think I have come to a final parts list now.

Only things I am not sure on are the fittings and tubing - looks like the figures in mm for the monsoon are rounded down - so according to the description they won't fit ( thats the same for all the sizes, so can only guess its because the tubing sizes are accurate, and the fittings are just rounded up )

Also - the bitfenix cables - because I really dont even want to attempt braiding myself, I dont have the patience for that - are these going to connect into the PSU without any issues - as I know some PSU's have different angles on the connectors, so you can only use / buy replacement cables from the same manufacturer ( think Corsair do this ? )

I've been changing the ram back and fore from this Avexir to the corsair dominator platinum, but theres a pretty large price difference.

Also - I think 1ltr of coolant is probably a bit tight - be worth getting 2ltrs just in case - and for topping up ?

and last question / concern - the GPU is definately reference right ? I don't want to take the cooler off and then find out its not reference when trying to fit the water block :D pretty expensive mistake.
