Just spent a cool £800 on a new overclocked rig from OcUK... a 2500k @ 4.6GHz.... does anyone know roughly how fast this processor will crunch through SETI or Milkyway units, and if it can use the sandybridge HD3000 graphics to help or is it just the four cores?

Thanks,

Thanks,

GPU won't be able to fold...... :(

But rig should be good for 10k ppd (folding) - can't do bigadv so will have to settle for smp.

As for SETI & Milkway - GPU Cards were always the preferred option. Would estimate around 5 - 6k ppd in SETI.

Unfortunately at this time, BOINC only looks for ATI and Nvidia GPUs specifically; therefore no other openCL capable devices will work for BOINC, including Intel.

I had to get a budget graphics card for a start, just to get the system up and running. Plan to buy a proper one when the 28nm graphics silicon hits the shops next year... so for now it's just a HD5450... BOINC detects it but doesn't run any units on it... am guessing it doesn't have what it takes?
