Rig as follows :

E4300 @ 2.4Ghz ( For now :D )
P5N-E SLI
1Gb Corsair TwinX @ 4-4-4-12
250Gb Samsung Spinpoint SATA
Plextor PX-716SA SATA DVDRW
Corsair HX520 PSU
2x Galaxy 7300GT 256Mb DDR3

Dead easy build, clocked the CPU to 2.4 for nowe and will have a play later, clocked the cards to 621/1.60

3DM05 - 8260
3DM06 - 4311 : SM2 - 1724, SM3/HDR - 1633 - CPU - 2043

Pretty im impresses for a pair of £25 cards :D

For referece this is what my old 3500+ / 7900GS rig scored :

3DM01 : 24470
3DM03 : NA
3DM05 : 8347
3DM06 : 4113. SM2 – 1900, SM3/HDR – 1900, CPU - 903

That's actually really impressive.

The idea that SLi'ing a couple of bottom range cards (all be it little diamonds in the rough) and competeing with a single mid/high range really shakes things up in terms of what people might buy.

I suspect that in most games a single 7900gs will still come out on top, but not by much and you are paying a premium for it.

Good work.

So £50 of 7300GT gets you around ~£80 worth of performance? Pretty good, though you need an SLi board...

Are people still receiving the DDR3 versions? I suppose it isn't really worth the risk in buying 2 without knowing if you are guaranteed DDR3.

How do you get these connected in SLi? Do both cards come with a bridge thingy?

Useually the mobo comes with the SLi bridge if i remember correctly :) My A8N Sli Se had 1 - which will also have 2 x XFX 7600GT XXX soon, when i get my 7900GS back :)

Those scores are awsome for 2 low end cards like that, but I though Doom 3 results were abit low, my X800 got higher with same settings, 40-200fps 80-120 usually.

Nice work bud! :)

I've still got my 7300GT in my main computer, as I can't be bothered to take it out!! The 8800 is sitting on the floor...

You seem to get a useful boost with the 2nd card. I might take a chance and order another one tomorrow and then get myself the cheapest sli board I can find for my other system. I'm finding OC'ing and benching lower end cards is just as much fun as anything else!

The wife will be pleased if that becomes a regular habit!! ;)

Top score there dude, nice to see SLI actually providing some real benefit and frame rate improvement over a single card solution. I wonder if this is the case for mid range cards like the 7300's.

Heh looks like we both had the same kind of idea, I just built an SLI rig with two of these an old Opty and a cheap Foxconn NF4SLI mobo. Only problem is, I can't get SLI to work, I see no option to enable in in the nVidia control panel. Could it be that I'm using Windows Server 2003 (SP2)? Drivers are latest nForce, and 93.71 for the video.

Unfortunately there isn't one, I'm using the XP driver. Strange that I can't find any mention of anyone else with this problem... Google has failed me :s.

Just for reference, a single card gets 4567 in 3DMark05 at stock.

It's the driver. 93.71 is buggy with certain setups. I had the same problem with my 7800gt's and had to go back to the 91.47 drivers to fix it. All was well with those.
