Hi guys

Im building a new rig and the IP35 Pro has been
recommended to me by a friend, do i really need it or will
the next one down. eg the IP35 or the IP35-E be ok as it is quite a bit cheaper?
Im not really into over clocking my processor as iv heard the IP35 pro is good for.

Also would like to know what is the best memory at this time looking at to get 4 gig.
thanks :)

If overclocking doesn't bother you much and it has all the features you want then the IP35-E is a solid enough motherboard, it will also still overclock but perhaps not quite as well as its bigger brothers.

As for Ram, I'd probably pick something like the OCZ PC6400 4gb or if you want to save £10 but don't mind that you can't then upgrade easily 4x1gb sticks of either OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum or Geil PC6400 C4. :)

Well i dont have a budget can afford the IP35-pro but done want to spend the money if i dont have to. Their is about £60 pounds difference between the IP35-E and the pro.
Just want to be able to put the Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 on it with 4gig of ram.
Already ordered my BFG 8800GT should be delivered tomorrow YAY.

I'd go for something like this, if it's within your budget. I went for quad core, because your not overclocking and as said by semi-pro waster you wont need a better motherboard than the IP35-E if your not planning on overclocking as it's a very stable board. I put 4GB in there, might aswell it's cheap and you said you'd be interested in a 4GB kit.
I'd say change the case to suit you, I just added that in there to complete the spec.

cool cool thanks for the advice.
just one more question why is the IP35 more than the IP35-E surely the E came out afterwards or am i just being dum lol.
Also going to but that crazy big heat sink on the motherboard will it fit ok

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775

System out come
Got - CroissHair 620w psu
BFG 8800GT
The old style Thermaltake case with 7 fans in it (should keep it cool)

The IP35-E is a slightly cut-down version, that is what the "-E" signifies*, essentially you are missing out on the silent heatpipe and also Raid ability as well as possibly some overclocking potential (not solid capacitors) so not huge issues but it can be enough to sway the decision.

*Don't ask me why "-E", I'd have assumed it to be "enhanced" normally but maybe it means 'minus extras'. I don't know. :)

Hey Tim

Yeah the Tuniq Tower should fit fine mate, it's the motherboard socket type you need to look at, as long as that matches you should be ok.

The RAM suggested is the same stuff Martin has got in the rig I put together for him, and he is really pleased. Glad to hear your 8800GT has arrived, now you can ditch the 7800, not sure it will prevent us whipping you on COD4 though :p

the tower will fit on ther mb, its just a case of if it will fit in ** case, mine only just fits in my Akasa Zen, which is .6mm narrower than the 900, so it should be fine.
