Ok don't laugh, but im currently running:

amd 64 +3200
ECS nforce 4 a939 mobo
ati radeon x1650 256mb Pci-e
audigy 2 zs
1gb crucial DDR400
80gb MAxtor HD
850w Powercool Extreme SLI ready PSU (Brand new)

Ancient Aspire case ( its served it cause but the LED's on the door are broke, 1 front USB ports bent and buckled, 2 fans have lost their LED's andthere as noisey as hell)
Aspire%20X-plorer%20ATX%20case%20with%20clear%20sides.jpg

Eventually ill strip the case down repaint it, change the Led's, replace the usb port, replace the aging fans, replace the plexi window and rebuild the front face from alu sheet. (Hobby Project)

Ive eventually decided on my plan of action and what im going to order so if anyone could just hover a glance at the parts and point out any improvements/ potential compatability issues it'll be appreciated.

Ill be reusing my PSU, case, dvd drives also the build will be in 2 phases due to funding.

Buying

Phase 1:
cpu
mobo
mem
hd

Phase 2:
gfx
sound

For phase 1 ill reuse my soundcard and gfx card for the time being until i have the funds and get a rig running, then following month for the rest then ill ditch them.

Anyway this is my complete new build:

Looks cool, couple of suggestions if your're interested:

The WD Green HDD is very quiet, cool, efficient, large capacity and good value -this suits it brilliantly as a backup/ media disk. However, if you plan to use it as a primary drive with the OS on it, will want something much faster - like this.

For the RAM, the OCZ stuff is good but this Kingston stuff is better and only a few quid more.

The i7 is a fast chip at stock (2.66GHz), but if you are interested a simple overclock will easily take you to 3.8GHz+. All u need is a bit of reading and a cooler like this.

Also, the 4890 is an awesome card, but the cooler can get a bit annoying. For just over £11 you can get this brilliant cooler for it.

Ill be running my shiney version of WIN 7 too btw :)

I should prob mention that i use my pc for:

COH/Project Reality/L4D style of games
Mild video editing
Playing DVDs + Music

Down the Line ill replace the CPU and GPU cooler with something more beefy... prob the Corsair h50 and a aftermarket Gpu cooler and try my hand at overclocking the CPU

@ Cmndr_andi I was orig going for the viper series but was put off at the £10 recent price hike by OCUK. I can live with noisy pc for the time being as this current one makes a racket.

Ill have a review of my HD maybe too
