Well its not all new but some is. :)

I am new to overclocking and over the next few months I plan to upgrade my rig, piece by piece(cash permitting)

Right so far I have, I shall list the old stuff first then the new which I have just brought

Asus p5n-d MB - I plan to change this to a DDR3 not sure which yet
E8400 wolfdale 3.0Ghz - plan to go I7 920 soon
1 Seagate Sata 250gb HD - I plan to get 1TB or 1,5TB not sure which yet
1 DVD RW Sata - I think I shall leave this for now
OCZ 4GB Kit (2xGB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Memory Vista Upgrade Edition Unbuffered CL5(5-6-6-18)
Arctic Power 700w PSU - This I think needs upgrading
+3.3v = 30A
+5v = 38A
+12v1 = 22A
+12v2 = 22A
-12v = 0.6A
+5Vsb = 3A

Ok the new

Antec 1200 Case
1 Asus ENGTX275
Zalman 9700 LED CPU Fan

Nothing was overclocked as my old case was small and badly aired, but now I thought I would try so first I download riva and furmark and started to try and OC first it seemed to be working as my GC was OCing ok I think. The
temp shot up to like 90c but I think that is because the fan was running at 40%, I think I might have overdone it because the score with performance test was lower? and also the GC temp would suddenly drop like it was upset with the OC, I went from 633 to 800 on the core clock and nothing seemed to happen???

I tried to OC my CPU to 3.6ghz with some settings someone told me, it did not work at first and after some error I got it to work with no BSOD,

Then I tried OCing my GC again and nothing, the temp stayed the same even taking it to 850mhz on the core clock nothing happened???? in fact the games seem to run okish but not as great when I first started??

I set the GC back to default and left the CPU at 3.6ghz.

Could it be my PSU not giving out enough power??

Is my GC dead now, although on top settings on Crysis Warhead last night I got 32fps.

Any tips would be great thanks.

I would have thought that graphics card still running proves it's ok but if things are still going nuts with the overclock it might be worth flashing the BIOS.

Also one component at a time won't work if you plan to go to i7, unless you count motherboard, CPU and RAM as one component!

Yes sorry I ment if I buy a new MB I would buy new ram and the I7 chip at the same time. Also as for the GC the fact it is running means it does work in some form I was just wondering if I have knocked some of the life out of it now with what I did, I have no idea what I am doing so some advice would be great, I will check the bios version when I get home from at 1pm and see if anyone has any thoughts

Only a severe overheat should reduce the life expectancy noticably and that usually manifests as artifact problems or random squares showing up or other such interference. Last card I had that had any form of problem jsut refused to boot next time round (fan had stopped and it was overheating).

Ok I just got home and I turned off the overclock on the cpu and now the fps on the GC is much better was 57 now its up to 62, so somehow the cpu overclock was upsetting it??

I have bios Ver 0801
