I'm looking to build a rig been scouting some specs and components and currently this is what i have:

Wanted to ask a few questions seeing as i have been using my laptop for everything.

Looking at getting a SSD for my OS and programs. Looked at:
Kingston SSDNow V-Series 128GB 2.5" SATAII Solid State Drive

Any opinions? I went for 128GB simply because my programs currently are eclipsing about 70GB and even after some trimming i would prefer a larger drive than 64/80GB

Any tips on it welcome haven't built a high end PC in years.

Also Monitors i was looking at LED backlit 24" monitors any advice there?

And i haven't added a fan/cooler as stock cooler i believe does the processor fine.

Thank you

Whats your max budget mate? cos theres a couple of cheapish suggestions can be made, like get the 950 cpu for only £20 more and get faster RAM if you plan to clock, at least 12800
also the gigabyte and MSI gfx cards seem to be well regarded, if you dont mind the small increase
On the whole looks good though
Edit: Oh if SLI is potential future route youll want a higher wattage PSU too

I won't be over clocking really, and SLI would be down the line if ever i haven't really considered it at all at the moment.

Budget for this side is around a grand although if i do go for a SSD like mentioned then tat will push it over yea i was reading a bit and it seems the same card but a gigabyte one seems t be well regarded, for the extra £10 I don't mind going there.

Any tips on case as that case seems expensive but I'm not sure what to go for, for air flow etc.

your spec above is good.

ditch the two black drives, add just one 1tb samsung F3.

add a SSD.

done.

as for cases,

Antec902.

Coolermaster 690mkIi and the Lite version.

Lancool dragonlord.

For a budget 24'', the BenQ offered by Overclockers is a solid choice and comes recommended by many satisfied OcUK customers.

If you want more upscale, you probably want to look at the Dell IPS screen, though the 23'' is much more attractively priced. Alternatively, you might want to look at the Acer or Asus 120MHz varieties. Most monitors offered by Overclockers have their attractive points and it is hard to go too wrong, it is mostly an exercise in figuring out just what suits your needs and your budget the best.

If going with the SSD, I would advice the CoolerMaster Dominator 690 Advanced. It has a good fit for it and is generally a very nice case to work with, as long as you do not mind a bit of a basic appearance, with no real side panel etc.

Thanks for the tips, changed my case now.

On the monitor side i wanted to take advantage of the HDMI socket on my graphics card or should i just not bother?

I assume the 650W PSU will power all that sufficiently?

Thanks for the help :) Just need to scout me a good SSD now.
