So i'm building a new rig since my current 5yr old dell xps is about to give up on me. I've a 1.7k budget. My current basket is at 1.18k pounds(excluding graphics card), but 1080 being at 600ish, i'ts a bit over my budget now. Can anyone help me clean out my basket a bit.

I've also talked to ocuk staff in the customer service section that if I buy all the parts in here, we can work out on them building it for me.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,258.85
(includes shipping: £75.34)

P.S. I thought when you have a product in the basket that has free shipping, the whole basket gets free shipping too?

Hi

Those Cablemod cables are not compatible with the SuperFlower psu. They only work with a BeQuiet Straight Power E10 unit.

Are you looking to overclock the cpu ? You probably won't need the EK kit if you are just going for a mild overclock. The Defcon bundle has a good mid range cpu cooler in the Alpenfohn Matterhorn.

If you only plan on a single gpu then you won't need a 750W psu. A good 550W would be fine.

Swap the hard drive for the 7200rpm version.

You should get free del on the basket (Due to the Samsung SSD) so maybe have a word with customer services on that.

So I ditched the cablemod as thinking about it i'm going for black/white theme and the psu cables are already good for that, not to mention that cable kit was a bit pricey. Also, intentionally made it 750w psu since I might get another 1080 down the road.

I'm hoping ocuk can help with getting it oc'd too and i've always drooled on people having watercooled pc! i'll be using this pc for many years to come to it's probably a good investment overall?

Changed to the 7200HHD and added the OS(almost forgot I needed one! :p).

Why the slow hard drive? You have spare funds in the budget, a second ssd and an external drive for backup might be better.

That will be for storage etc, i've a few external hard drives lying around but just dont feel the need to plug one every now and then. I might swap to 500gb ssd if I have a bit more budget after finalising my basket.

If you still want to bring the price down then maybe swap out the EK cooler for a sealed AIO.

You can fit a 280mm such as the Corsair H110i Gt but it would only fit at the front in that case.

I think i'll stick to the EK kit, thanks for the recommendation anyways. :D Although, i'm contemplating on removing the HHD and just get the 500gb SSD for now and maybe just add an HHD later if I ever really needed one?

Also thinking of getting an i5 6600k instead of the i7? what do you think?

Just check with customer services regarding the EK kit, as it is out of stock at the moment.

If you can manage with 500GB then sure you can add a hard drive later on if you need it.

For a purely gaming pc then an i5 is fine. The i7 would help if you were doing other things such as video editing/rendering and streaming (Twitch) etc.

hmmm. I do stream from time to time and milti task a lot, i'm getting the ASUS swift 34' too so i'll have loads of stuff open at the same time. i'll stick with the i7 and change to 500 ssd so! :D
