New ROBOCOP

I just hope at least if they are going to remove all the humour in the film, they at least concentrate on the human aspects of Murphy being converted into a cyborg, and not just massive explosions and tons of CGI.

Robert Cop II dissaproves of this new film

The original RobertCop was iconic. To make minor changes to the look would have been one thing to accept, but to change the whole appearance is to create something that is not ROBO, but a hi-tech man in armour.
Also, I agree with Mr CAT - one of the greatest ideas in all of the Verhoeven movies back then was the OTT and heavy satire/irony approach to the setting and the characters. None of that will be brought to the new film. Surely it will be cut a lot of violence to market the film for kiddies, so we will be left with a film with nothing special in it. (IMO)

I think they may have missed the critical bit here...

Robocop is meant to be half robot, not some dude in spandex and Kevlar. Maybe the special effects will fix this, but right now I'm cringing.

I was a fan of Robocop when I was younger but to me he was terribly designed.

He could only walk at about .5mph. It took him an age to turn round 180 degrees.

It just wasn't believable to me. The new one might be more 'realistic' if that's possible.

Edit - Robocop vs Terminator? Was stupid. They were both pretty much invincible accept the Terminator could run.

As I kid I always wondered why Robocop was never shot in the jaw. He would stand and be a bullet magnet but oddly was never struck on the only exposed part of his body :D

Was the company always called Omnicorp? I'm assuming they've changed it slightly and dropped the P from the logo, as I remember it being OCP

You **********! I work for Dick Jones! Dick Jones! He's the Number Two Guy at OCP. OCP runs the cops.

OCP was 'Omni Consumer Products'...

I have the Directors cut of the first film... the 'Conference Room' scene with the ED209 is at least 5 minutes longer than the theatrical version!

Me too :) pew pew pew

I just hope they don't feel the need to make Back to the Future (unless they have already, in which case I'm blissfully unaware)

I 'lost' my Directors Cut... I say lost, I mean never got it back from a friend. Most upsetting.

It's the shooting of Murphy scene that got me in that cut, that is also 5 minutes longer! Haha.

I watched Robocop only a couple of years ago (2009?) and it was utter, utter turd from a film perspective.

The story was great, but it has typical 80s slow cutting (meaning dialogue seemed very stop-start), the effects have aged worse than any 80s sci-fi I've seen in... well... forever, and some of the acting was abysmal.

Iconic for its day, however, but very disappointing when I finally got around to it, and could not suspend my disbalief for more than a couple of minutes.

Remake it, please.

And no, I haven't seen any of the GI Joe films.

I bet the music will suck too.
You can't beat a bit of Basil Poledouris (R1) or Leonard Rosenman (R2).

Listening to the soundtrack of Starship Troopers there's a hell of a lot of similarity between it and Robocop... which is nice :)

I don't mind a remake, as long as it isn't like GI joe and stupid humour for kids etc. with no violent scenes. Will probably enjoy the film anyway.

For me the first one was superb, one of my favourite films, great story, great acting, great music and great action scenes and the way it was shot is superb. Also really liked the second one, but it was nowhere as good as the first and well the rest have been very poor, but still fun enough :p

It's kind of funny that you should mention the TV adverts from the old film, given that this trailer was done in the style of a TV advert, and should therefore hardly be taken as gospel.

I'm not saying the film is going to be any good (I have my doubts too), but you were reading way too much into a three-second scene.
