New router for Virgin M600

Can anyone suggest which router to get for Virgin M600 with a budget of £100-£150? I've seen the Asus RT-AC86U suggested, is it a good buy?

Why do you want a new router?

Having speed issues with VM and just a general upgrade really. I've heard a 3rd party router can improve connection speeds and help to improve ping in games, along with better wifi performance. I do have a lot of devices connected to my hub currently
