I got my 100mb upgrade a couple weeks back and decided to get the Superhub from Virgin to replace my aging Linksys router as it couldn't seem to handle 100mb speeds.

I received my Superhub on Friday and set it up then suffered with constant problems accessing websites, wireless seemed to keep dropping out and the router lacked some features I was after like DDNS etc, so I figured I'd get a proper router and switch this to modem mode.

Having not bought a home router for years I'm a bit out of the game. I've had a look around and it seems the Asus routers are pretty good (I didn't even realise they made routers!) So I'm torn between the RT-N65U or RT-N56U! Is there much difference between the two to justify the extra cash or will the N56U do the job OK?

Not trolling but why choose a DNS server over a local VM one ? Is it just unreliable or something ?

C:\tmp\ns_bench\win32>ns_bench.exe 194.168.4.100 8.8.8.8
Nameserver Response Time (ms)
min/avg/max/stdev/retries

194.168.4.100 8.00/10.40/13.00/1.85/0
8.8.8.8 19.00/24.20/28.00/3.06/0

or install a local caching DNS here's mine

C:\tmp\ns_bench\win32>ns_bench.exe 194.168.4.100 8.8.8.8 10.0.0.5
Nameserver Response Time (ms)
min/avg/max/stdev/retries

194.168.4.100 9.00/11.60/14.00/1.62/0
8.8.8.8 23.00/26.80/31.00/2.71/0
10.0.0.5 1.00/1.20/2.00/0.40/0

So tell me again why I should give my life away to Google ?

Got my RT-N56U ordered, should be with me tomorrow, so hopefully I can start using my 100mb properly at last!
