New router for XBL

Over the past few days I've been having real trouble with Xbox Live. There are two Xbox consoles in my house, both connected to the same router (wired).
Playing MW2, my NAT is always set at Strict. I have fixed this a couple of times (first by enabling UPNP, then port forwarding, then setting up the 360 in a DMZ), however it has always reverted itself to Strict, even though these settings are supposed to permanently fix it.
So after trying all of these fixes I can only imagine that's it's a problem with the router. It's old, I got it 3 maybe 4 years ago and it wasn't the newest model back then.

So, assuming I'm right, I'm looking for recommendations on a new router. There are 3 other laptops connecting to it (wireless) as well as 4 other devices connected (wired). I'm using BT as my ISP, not sure if that makes a difference.

I've got a Belkin N router - not good for XBL. I came from a Belkin G where i got moderate NAT (open with an Ethernet cable) to Strict no matter what.

DG834G

I doubt very much would fail you, I sell these to my customers and have had no call backs on them as they are generally very good.

Port forwarding is very simple on them also if you have to do ports manually.

Thanks, looked around and that seems very good. I'm sure it will, but just to check, will that work with a BT connection?

The guy at my local store says they get lots of complaints about Netgear, so avoid Netgear. That is cool, on BT's site, you can check if you can get it by zipcode/postcode. Over here ISPs want a address.

dont touch belkin, the DG834G is a good router but get the v4 not the v5 as the wireless on the v5 is broken with xbox
Both Xbox consoles are using wired connections, so as long as the wireless works for other devices (laptops) then I don't mind that.

Hi there,

Just thought I'd post incase you haven't tried.

Have you set a Static IP from your Xbox's network config page? and on the router config page, forwarded the ports from that IP?

If you haven't set the xbox's IP manually, the router may be assigning a new IP to the xbox causing the port forwarding not to work.
