Hi guys apologies in advance, I like to think I am fairly clued up on tech but I have NO idea about networking.

I got a Cisco EA4500 router (open box) for about £50 which I thought was great since those things go for a lot more (that and the fact my existing router is bricked). I previously had a netgear ADSL modem router (DG834Gv3) that my ISP supplied. There is a phone connecting going into that, and then an Ethernet going to my main PC. Happy days. Problem is this new one doesn't seem to like it. The set up is telling me to connect my modem when I don't have one.

Main question is, I take it is the old netgear is a modem and router combined and this Cisco is just a router? In which case I presume if I want to stick with the Cisco I will need to buy a modem on top? Or am I being a knob. :)

Thanks

Edit: Also the the connector coming from my phone line doesnt fill all of the connector (it still clicks) I presume it's some sort of gigabyte WAN/LAN port where as the line coming in, isnt. Maybe thats an issue? Again on the netgear it all lines up perfect.
