Need broadcom chipset router so i can get rid of the pile of garbage that is the thomson 585v7.
Will not let me put my ps3 in a DMZ, no matter what firmware i put on it.
My ps3 doesnt even appear as a device to put into DMZ.

Finding broadcom routers should be easier than it is right now.

Only going to be using normal adsl max upto 8mb if thats any help.

Anybody have any suggestions, which ones to look at and especially which ones to avoid.

Realised i should have avoided the 585v7 only after i had set it up :(

ps3 and 360 all connected thro wired too

Why do you need the PS3 in a DMZ in the first place? For an Open NAT im guessing?

Try looking the config for NAT options. Personally I wouldn't put it into a DMZ as there shouldn't be the need to.

I've got a linksys WAG160N and that seems to be pretty stable and works well with online gaming plus the options to open ports/port ranges.

585v7 doesnt keep any ports open, create a custom port forwarding option, then the following day, they are all gone, the name of the custom option is still there, but all the ports that were opened are nowhere to be seen.

585v7 is really awful for options.

What is the dgn2000 like?

I only ask as i googled the 160n and first page that came up was a choice between the 160n and the dgn2000.

Is the 160n broadcom?

The DGN2000 is Broadcom and supports DGTeam f/w but apparently the wireless isn't all that great, frequent disconnections etc. Could always buy a cheap dg834gt and use it in tandem with a decent router.

Broadcom 6348 chipset, both dgn and 160n, although comments on there say that the 6348 is quite an old chipset.

The more searching i do the further away i get from deciding what to do :)

It may be old but it works extremely well. Get either a DG834GT or DG834PN would be my advice, and if you want wireless N or other fancy features then tandem with a DD-WRT router such as the DIR615.
