I posted a thread earlier regarding difficulty setting up my new TP-Link TD-W8950ND router. I've since managed to set up WPA2-PSK, but am still having issues. I don't know what to do, perhaps I missed something in setting it up for o2?

Note that with wireless security disabled, I can connect to the router no problem and use the internet on my laptop or main PC. As soon as I enable WPA2 in the security sub menu of the router, I can no longer connect to the router with my XP laptop (gets stuck at 'connecting' for ages until it finally gives up), and whilst it appears that my main PC connects, it can't go online. Weirdly, both android phones in my house will connect and function properly when WPA2-PSK is enabled. MAC filtering is off.

What might be the issue here?

are you sure the laptop and pc have WPA-PSK2 compatible adapters? what about setting the router to just wireless G.

Forgot to mention that it behaves similarly with WEP. I'll have another go at it later.

okay also try changing the drivers on your laptop/pc.
i assume that you used the o2 router before? how did that work with the wifi? was it reliable enough on most occasions?
if it has worked before i'd probably say its likely to be the router.
also try changing wireless channel on the router.

Have you tried calling o2 support. In my experiance they have always been really helpfull. I was having issues with the LAN speed on my o2 router the other day. After a 10 min chat with the support guy he found out they pushed a new firmware update recently that fixed this and load of other things. It doesnt come into effect until I hard reset the router (stick a pin in reset hole for 10 secs).

That fixed all my issues.

what speed do you have the router set to output at, B/G/N?

What wireless card does your laptop have?

If the router is set to auto on speed, fix it to G and then see if your laptop can connect.

The O2 router was fine, apart from the odd connection drop which required it to be turned off then back on (this became progressively worse until the router died the other day). I'll try changing the channel.

I tried setting up my Netgear DG834G which had the same trouble as this router. Well i say 'same' - very similar at least, but it died before I managed to get over the issue (bad firmware update).

What confuses me above all else is the fact that the Android phones connect whatever the security setting, and the PC/laptop will with security disabled.

I'll try the hard reset on my router to see what happens. I won't bother calling O2 as they only offer support for their own bundled routers.

Can't remember what card the laptop had. The speed/mode was set to auto in the router menu. I'll try changing this, but don't see what difference it'll make as I've had successful wireless connection with security disabled.

Oh, and my laptop won't be connecting to the network any more. I trod on it and totally borked the screen/mobo last night. :(
