I got/had this 3com 3CRWDR100A-72 which start dropped sync last week, it would hold the connection for no more than 3 minutes max. So i went and got a a Linksys Wireless-G WAG54G2, set it up, everything is fine but it seems my internet speed has dropped from 3.5mb/4mb to 1mb !

Anyone know what could be causing this ?

I expect there's a problem with your line or internal wiring. Start by trying another filter and after that call your ISP to run tests and eventually call out an engineer.

Wired or wireless that is causing the problem or both?

If your wired connection remains stable but the wireless connection starts dropping after a couple of minutes change the wireless channel on the router instead.

No, the router loses Sync to the internet, not the connection from PC to Router, but router to the rest of the world.

New router = stable internet, but slower.

The new router should give stats like the speed it's connected at (that's where you're getting your "internet speed" from, right?), attenuation and SNR margin. If your old router was losing sync that often, it's possible your target SNR margin will have increased.

Weird, as the router says i should get 3mb, did a speed test and its 1mb...I am not downloading anything at the moment...and i can't seem to find attenuation and SNR margin....

For starters, forget about speedtest.net, it's rubbish. Look at the BT Speedtest for your IP profile (or Enta might give it in some portal).

Just called my ISP, apparently i should give it another 24 hours as I called them on Friday night about my sync problem and its an auto procedure for them to drop the speed of the line as a safety procedure to see if it fixes to issue (it hasn't until a new router). After the 24-48 hours period the computer will slowly put the speed back up...i guess i'll wait another day and see, though technically it has been 3 days since i called them.

Ah, you're using a BT product not a LLU one? I forget about that thing of theirs as I've been on LLU for years, I found that aspect pretty horrific and had all sorts of errors with the profiles not changing back after my synch had been dropped. But whatever the issue it's beyond your control.
