I'm back baby!
Must have:

Reliable and fast DSL router (min. 4 port)
Wireless access

Want:

NAS/expansion for external HDD

I don't really have a budget in mind, as I have no idea what this kind of thing might cost.

I already have a terabyte external HDD that I'm not using, so if I can use that in some way all the better.

Thanks

I'd get a decent router and a separate NAS box. Because the chances are high that the NAS features on a router will be meager and performance will be inferior to a purpose built unit.

The best general setup is Wifi N Router > Gigabit switch > Dedicated NAS

Costs a bit more but well worth the investment.

I agree that sharing a USB hard drive via a router is no substitute for a real NAS or server. I haven't tried ReadySHARE on my DGDN3700 because I already had a Windows Home Server. I did notice that the DGND3700 appeared on the list of media servers on my PS3 until I disabled ReadySHARE. The DGND3700 has four Gigabit ports, so I no longer need a separate Gigabit switch (one less box to clutter up my desk).
