We're currently using the Linksys BEFW11S4 v.2 (Wireless Access point & Cable/DSL Router with 4-point switch) with our NTL 2mb (now 4mb I think :S) ever so reliable NTL connection ;)

Unfortunately for us, its just died on us, and we're looking for a new 1 without breaking the bank totally. Our current setup is as follows:

2x Desktop PC on Ethernet cable to router
1x Desktop PC on Wireless
2x Laptops on Wireless

I have never liked the interface with the linksys routers, even though I know this 1 is very old and would like one which allows easier port forwarding and more information of exactly who is on the internet and what they are sucking up bandwith wise.

Would be a nice feature to be able to remove someone from the network at the click of a button too. Is this all possible say with £60?

Thanks for any help as always gents

Netgear DG834PN 108Mbps Rangemax Wireless ADSL2 Modem/Router/Switch/Firewall (NW-083-NG) is £66 + vat from OCUK on this page

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_ADSL___Broadband_Modem_Routers_143.html

you cant remove a wired connection from the router thru the web portal (as far as i know) but you can certainly remove wireless ones at the click of a button (with wireless connections I always try and use "only allow wireless card(s) with this MAC address to connect" or whatever its called)

hope this helps

 he's on cable (NTL)!

Recommend D-Link routers & in particular DI-624 (plain not +). Used it for about a year with an NTL Cable connection. Still working, but with an ADSL modem (connection) which its not 100% happy with :( Got it dirt-cheap from that famous auction site. Can be had for about £48.54 if you look (Google) :)

Regarding 'Would be a nice feature to be able to remove someone from the network at the click of a button too. Is this all possible say with £60?' - not really a button but on the DI-624 you can create IP Filters or MAC Filters to allow or block a list of computers on/from your network

Dunno what the interface is like on the BEFW11S4, but I can't say I've got any complaints with my WRT54GS. Certainly does everything you're after (except the one click wired network removal).
