New router upgrade?

I'm about to switch from my current provider to Vodafone for my home broadband. I'll be going with the 500mb full fiber. I've had a look online at the router they will most likely provide and can see it's only got 2 Lan ports, I need at least 3 so I'm looking for something half decent as a replacement without spending a fortune. Most things in the house are hardwired either via a switch or directly to the router. I do a bit of gaming, not a massive amount but anything that gives me a better connection in this respect would be handy.

After a very quick look on a few review sites I see the TP link Archer BE9300 recommended quite often, it does look like it would suit my needs. On Amazon its currently £180 reduced from £300. Would this be a good choice or is there something else at a similar pricepoint that people could recommend?

I’ve had this router for a couple of weeks now, firmware updated then took a few minutes to set up and I was up and running.
I game most nights and the connection has been solid as has the WiFi.
So far no problems.

Main problem: Vodafone. Say goodbye to low ping times as you get routed to Edinburgh for every data packet. If you don't game you might be ok but since you mentioned it something to consider. If it's about price, very similar priced packages from other providers (within £1) and make sure to take advantage of cashback sites (most are an extra £60+ back).

If you still want to go with Vodafone, you may be getting confused with the wifi extender being 2 ports. The actual router has 3 LAN ports.

£180 for a router is nonsense regardless of technology (especially considering 500 Mbps that Wifi 6 will do easily). My advice? Type in SPNMX57 at some other places and pay under £45 all in. 3 LAN ports (one at 2.5 Gbps) and a 2.5 Gbps WAN if you wanted future proofing. Fancy doing wireless backhaul? Type in SPNMX42 and get 4 ports with triband wifi 6 for under £50.

I ended up going with vodafone because they were the best priced for the 500mb (£29 p/m). I've been with TalkTalk for the past 5 years but they were struggling to do the upgrade to 500mb from 78mb and customer service is terrible. I didn't realise the issue with the low ping times but I'm committed now so I'll just have to see how I get on.

Just pay a few pounds for a switch and wireless point(s) as needed. If an isp provides a router I’d use that and build your network independently around that.

I do have a switch but its located in another room so from the router I need one cable to go to the switch, one directly to my ps5 and one to go to the tv by the router. the tv could be connected using the wifi, I just like to have everything hardwired where possible.
