At the moment i am just using a basic Sky router ( Fibre )

My speeds are between 25.99 Mb/s & 35 Mb/s ( Wireless )

If i upgrade to a better / different router will i get better speeds ? or better connection

My Sky Fibre sees about 37/38Mb/s using a network cable directly to the router but wireless only sees about 21Mb/s standing right next to it! It stinks for wireless.

I then bought a separate BT modem and an Asus RT-N66U and I then got the full speed on wireless even on the other side of my flat, much better, more solid performance in general, though in my case it didn't improve my connection speed using a wire, just wireless & a more stable connection, more options etc....

If you get an Asus router you'll need to extract your login details from the black Sky hub you have now using a program called wireshark (YouTube has some easy to follow videos on how to do this).

That goes for any 3rd party router he gets, not just the Asus range. When looking for a new router, make sure it supports MER authentication which is needed for Sky Fibre. You'll need to get an additional Openreach modem if the new router doesn't have a VDSL modem built in too.
