After my trust old Linksys died i bought a new Asus router as a replacement. I dont really know the difference between any of the security protocols so i was hoping someone could enlighten me. This new router also has WPS and again i dont really know what it is and whether or not i should be using it.

what he said. If in doubt, WPA2-Personal or PSK depending on wording.

Can be some problems with older devices not talking WPA2 but they are few and far between these days.

And don't forget to make up a decent network key! There are sites that will create random ones for you, but I usually say to use some seemingly random sequence of characters but when you look at it it makes sense. Something like your dateofbirth then car registration then payroll number (or other important number) then postcode or something. So you could have 250282SM54DRTSP59ET44552366 for example. Completely random looking but identifiable to yourself.

(those are random, NOT my details!)
