New router

Looking to get either:

Asus RT-N56U http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-028-AS&tool=3

TP-Link TD-W8970 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-068-TP&groupid=46&catid=1595

I'm getting one to replace the plusnet router since the signal I get upstairs is terrible, are these routers compatible with whatever I need?
I'm also a noob at all this so will everything be straight forward to set up?
