Need a new router to swap the virgin superdud out.

Looking at Asus RT87u at the moment

Currently wireless devices are

Son's PC
Son's amazon Fire
Daughters Amazon Fire
Sons Ipad
Daughters Ipad
My Phone
Wifes Phones
Wife macbook pro
LG TV

Are there any other to consider around the 150 price mark.
Currently use my pc for gaming and streaming.
Steam Link under the TC streaming but is wired in.

Also need the router to be able to be networked storage drive with a 3TB HDD attached that the fire Tv's can access.

I recently purchased the Asus RT-N66u and set it up so my virgin superhub 3 is in modem mode and its working very nicely for me at the moment. (only had it 3 days)

thats a downgrade so not going to go with that the superhub 3 and 2 AC both have AC wifi the n66u only has n to 900mbps

I have two of the Asus RT-68U. Didn't need the faster AC speed of the 87u. One acts as my main router, the other is setup as an AP. I have the merlin firmware on both. Only had them in just under a month but not had any issues. Far better coverage in my house now than I had with my older D-Link routers setup the same way.

Change of plan.

How about

Ubiquiti easyrouter lite
Ubiquiti ac-pro
Tp-link sg108e

Come to nearly the same price and could add another access point any time if needed

Yes I think that's a better option, particularly if you have flexibility to place the WAP in the most suitable location. At first it is trying to be all things to all devices but in time if you want a more popular location to have better speed it will most likely be improved by having an additional WAP that is closer to its' intended audience. Nicer I think to have everything from one manufacturer too.

EDIT: If you want a neater install, eg not using PoE injectors, then this model I think would be better: ERPoe‑5

EDIT2: Actually I'd scrub the last suggestion and stick with the EdgeRouter Lite (ERLite-3), these are better used just as routers and not bridging the ports as this apparently has a high impact on performance as that side of things is software based whereas the routing is hardware accelerated. Therefore better to offload the PoE to a separate suitable switch or use the PoE injectors.

I have the Edge Router Lite 3 along with an AP AC Pro (and a 24 port gigabit switch), fantastic setup. I'll never go back to a single unit solution, unless Ubiquiti bring out some super unit :)

One other solution that might be worth a look is from Routerboard/Mikrotik;

hEX (RB750Gr2)

They've just added ac WAP's to their range;

wAP ac (RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD)

The above are roughly half the price although I did notice the antenna gain is lower on these than with Ubiquiti's.
