Hi all,

So, for ages now I've been rocking a 2500k (@4.5ghz) and a GTX 980.

Its finally time to do a good upgrade, both CPU and a RTX3080

However, I've just realised a possible issue with my monitor, as I was looking forward to finally comfortably hitting 1080p120 with my Asus VG278H 120hz 3d monitor.

From what I recall, the HDMI port doesn't support 120hz, and previously had to be connected by a dual link dvi adapter, which the GTX980 has.

However, the 3080s dont seem to have dual link DVI anymore, and only displayport and HDMI by the looks of it.

I've tried searching but looks to be a no goer, but is there any simple adapter that can turn the more modern spec hdmi (or DP) output on the 3080 to dual link DVI for 120hz. From searching, the old HDMI/DP spec didn't have enough pins to be possible but

Would hate to have to buy a new monitor as a result :( (though I suppose it would finally make me go dual screen) It will cause wifey to kick off :)

It would require an active converter. Not sure if they exist that'll support a refresh rate that high.

Have a search, this has cropped up quite regularly on this forum since they dropped the DVI ports on the cards.

Thanks, the active adapters seem to be quite steep (and seem to be a bit flakey sometimes from what I've read) - I guess I'll have no option but to look at a 2nd monitor I think :( On upside I get a 1440p screen, 2nd screen, or gift this to the daughter
