Hi guys ,

A little help required please.

I have just purchased a rx 580 nitro 8gb for my set up. Replacing a gtx 460 !

I have uninstalled all the old drivers, updated bios on my z68 mobo, have a 800w psu with both 6 and 8 pin connectors to gpu, plugged in to pci1 port but still does not boot up.

Any suggestions please as to what I can try ?

Thanks

Ben

Sorry to hear that. Could you try removing the Graphics card, then plugging your monitor into the back of the Motherboard , then boot it up to see if that works? if it does then we know the PSU isn't faulty.

Yes both 6 pin and 8 pins are plugged into the gpu.

My old 460 still works so that would suggest it’s not a psu problem ? Am I correct in thinking this way ?

Thanks

Ok so we know the PSU is fine , which is good. Could you double check to see that the Z68 motherboard bios and double check the its the latest drivers. I know you said you have but lets double check just to be sure.

if they are up to date , maybe try installing the 580 and see if the fans spin up when you turn the computer on. (also i am about to leave work and i wont be able to answer for a few hours)

Thanks for your replies guys.

I’m going to put this down to user error,

I had two six pin connectors for my old gtx so bought a 6-8 pin converter not knowing there was a plug with the extra 2 pins tucked away.

I have plugged these in therefore eliminating the need for the 6-8 pin converter and all works.

Why would this be an issue though ? I thought that’s what the converter plugs were designed for ?

Thanks for all your help again

Maybe the PSU is an older ATX standard.
