Hey guys, been having quite a few issues with my new Ryzen build and wondering if you could share any knowledge.

Specs:
Ryzen 3600
Asus x570-p prime
32gb Vengeance LPX (2x16gb)
rtx2080 iGame
@all stock settings.

1) rtx2080 major graphics issue - White lines.
This is my biggest concern. The gpu is a refurb, therefore likely has no manufacturer warranty (maybe limited time left to send back).
Basically system was fine for first few days, turned on today and 100's of shifting white lines all over display- Bios, windows, everywhere. PC still responsive.

Can restart and sometimes goes back to normal... *NO notification of new driver install/changes*

*Edit - Now the screen *often* changes from ok > weird space invaders logos then either hangs or BSODS.

-I'v tried uninstalling drivers with DDU in safe mode and re-installing new ones.
-I also tried claning all pins and reseating.
-Also tried using 2 different hdmi ports on tv and 2 cables.

When it does this...
-GPU does not show up in HW monitor, device manager says windows disabled it?
-Could this be a potential H/W fault or likely just driver issue? *see pics below*

*maybe related...
-Slow/delayed startup:
The pc has always had about a 15sec delay before I even see the initial Asus BIOS screen. Slightly annoying, maybe related?
-No video signal after 'waking up' (pc turns on). I often wake up to my pc whirring away but no display: saybe not entering sleep mode correctly.

2) V.High cpu temps & voltages...
Temps hitting high 60's even when drawing just 30w and over 80c at just 40w: Just browsing Chrome or opening a folder bumps to 1.4v!? Is this normal?
-Good ventilation in case.
-Ambient temp = 20c.

-I have a Kraken x61 280mm AIO to replace the stock cooler with when the new bracket arrives but even if temps halve (doubtful) it'll still be higher than temps of my old 4790k @ 80w / 1.37v.
-I have reseated/pasted cpu with same results.

3) Other minor issues.
-Had 2 system hangs in only 4 days.
-Slow copying (even shows a progress screen for 5mb files) to desktop and generally not 'nippy'.
AS SSD *total* scores halved (random read/write seem ok).
-V. low volume on video players. MPC-HC, VLC, WMP....

:D thanks. So I copy and paste the "BB link" into the box that comes up when i click insert picture right?

I c ant see how to delete those other posts. Damn lines!

Ok, so first of all, is this a fresh install of Windows with this system?

Restarted a few times and everything's back to normal... *I had NO notification of any new driver install/changes, and I'm still on the same (latest) version I was on before!*. Could this be a potential H/W fault or likely just driver issue? *see pic*
*EDIT* Ok it came back again *this time with space invader symbols? and system hung. :(

Refurbished GPU should have some warranty, depending on the seller you usually get 30 days or something at least.

A few things to try though; remove the GPU, clean the PCI-E connector with something like isopropyl alcohol, could be something as simple as a dirty contact from being handled. I'd also just double check your power connectors, make sure both are fully plugged in etc. Also try running DDU to remove all traces of drivers, then download latest drivers and install.

The slow boot has been fixed with a BIOS update for X570 boards, so I would recommend doing that, it may even help your other issues too.

This is very normal for AMD 3xxx CPUs. Under light load, the voltage can go up to ~1.4V to allow a core or two to boost to higher frequencies. You'll find that if you load up all cores then the voltage will be a lot lower. Also with the temperatures, with the CPU being 7nm, it's very dense and a lot of heat produced in a very small area, so 60c idle isn't unusual, as long as your load temps are reasonable. My 3900x is under a custom water loop with two 360 radiators, yet it still idles at 40c, but full load temps are like 68c with an overclock. It's hard to directly compare temperatures to other CPUs really.

Thanks man, this really helps.

I tried with DDU, will try reseating it now. Dont have any alcohol i can spray in there but have some injection swap wipes (I use them for cleaning TIM).

Wish I would have known that about AMD cpus, I was expecting the opposite to be honest - Less power - Less heat. Guess my 280mm Kraken won't have an easy task cooling the little 3600 after all! :(
I hope they still last running so hot all the time. So I should be ok with about 80c load temps on a 280mm rad?

I only have an 8pin connected to the cpu port atm, could that be the issue? I have ordered another 8pin (4+4) so I can populate the empty 4pin slot... but Im guessing thats just for like, if i decide to overclock a 3950x or something?

Oh and yeah, fresh install. I did do the gpu drivers after my sound card and chi[set and everything else though.

Those wipes will do the job.

It's not power usage that's the issue here, it's down to removing heat from a very concentrated source. Zen2 is extremely power efficient :) Your 280 AIO should cope just fine. The stock AMD cooler kept my 3900x at around 80c stock under load.

Yeah that single 8pin EPS12v feed will be more than enough. I connected both up to my board having the 3900x but I doubt that needs it, or even comes close to needing it. Doesn't hurt to spread the load though.

I turn around and now my cat is chewing the psu cables :s
Kitty is not helping with fault testing

So do you get higher overclocks with the 3900x on custom liquid then? If stock keeps it below 80 anyway :?

Do you have access to another pc to test the Gpu in? If not you could try underclocking the Gpu core clock and memory in msi afterburner to see if this fixes the artifacting, this is not an ideal fix though and going down the rma route would be the best option if possible with warranty.

The cpu should run cooler than this even with the stock cooler, my 3600 idles at 30c, gaming 50c and full load cinebench/aida 70c though I do have a wraith prism. A 280mm aio should be quite a bit better than this.

Could also possibly be a motherboard issue.

Hhmmmm... Slightly worrying for mine then. You have pbo on? Or just stock oc?

I haven't put my aio on yet. The am4 brackets weren't around when the x61 came out. Much to my surprise when I couldn't figure out why the amd bracket I had just wasn't fitting. Spent about 10 minutes looking at it and wondering how it was supposed to fit

How you you undervolt with afterburner?

Arg... Turned back on. Same issue. Except now the white lines sometimes change green and pink... I'm gonna try changing hdmi ports and cables.

Would you look at those aliens? So weird.

I noticed the psu gpu is missing one pin at the psu end. I guess that's normal?

I still have my old system, but will be a pain going through making that up again... I could try my old gtx1080 in here... If I get the same issue then I know its likely not the rtx2080 right?
