Brazo

2700x brand new
Asus X470 B grade
32 gb 3000 ram taken from working system
Vega 56 taken from working system.

Powering up results in mobo Rgb coming on and a red light on the mobo which I understand is the cpu light. It won’t boot into bios. I have reseated cpu again but no joy. No bent Pins etc. I have reinstalled ram, cooler, etc basically built it twice.

Mobo?

B Grade motherboard may be faulty.
How many sticks of RAM, 2 x 16gb or 4 x 8gb? Have you tried with 1 or 2 sticks?
Motherboard could have been returned because of faulty RAM slots but previous owner returned it as unwanted/unsuitable so it was not checked.

What PSU do you have?

i had a similar problem wiith a freinds new ryzen build and it turned out to me his gpu, when it was fully built it would turn on and the rgb would start but wouldnt display any picture, but the keyboard and mouse looked to be working, num, caps and scroll would all turn on, but no display.
taking out the gpu and using on board hdmi and hey presto the system powered up and we had picture, does the asus x470 have a built in hdmi/display port on the mobo?, if so take out yor gpu and try the on board output, most importantly what psu are you running?

No gfx with that cpu unfortunately

oh doh, in that case if the 2700x wont do that find another gpu to try, and make sure you psu has enough wattage, too low will cause all sorts of weird issues

Many thanks all.

I did reset the cmos and play around with the ram but to no avail.

I ordered a brand new mobo which came yesterday (apologies only just seen the responses to this thread.) It all works now so yep definitely a faulty mobo.

I did have even more problems getting raid to work and for some reason it now struggles to recognise the boot drive every other switch on but I will persevere!

I have oc it to 4.2ghz at 1.40v but it seemed to make very little difference in performance from ‘stock’ or whatever performance enhancements the Asus mobo was applying.

Aida 64 crashes within 5 secs of starting a stress test unless I turn off the memory option(!) but it seems stable in all my regular applications.
