I'm on the lookout for a new uniprocessor board for a Xeon 2630 v2 an am having some issues. I'd set my heart on a Supermicro X9SRL-F as I like the xpandibility and really could use the IPMI capability, but can't find anywhere in the UK selling one for non-silly money. So, I started looking at alternatives and the Asus boards, normally my go-to for gaming rigs, get some pretty bad reviews. Any other ideas? I'm hoping to find a board equivalent to the Supermicro or better for sub-£250.

Have you tried contacting Boston for SM kit?

No. I can't say I've heard of them... :) I'll give them a go, thanks!
In the meantime, any alternatives I should consider? The Asus boards seem flaky, the Intel boards as hard to find as the Supermicro.

Sell the processor and buy a ready-made server? (e.g. Proliant ML310 Gen 8, PowerEdge T110 II). You can get an entire server for £300-400...

I've sent in a price request. Hopefully they get back to me fairly quickly.
In the meantime, I've seen some other boards, such as the Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI, which uses the c606 chipset. More of a consumer/workstation board than server, but still looks good, especially for the in-built SAS. I'm just really wanting the IPMI capability and need to find what add-on board does that, as well as (once again) a place that sells the damn thing. Anyone would think Xeon's aren't typically used in the home!

I would, but it wouldn't do what I want. I already have my home server in a fully-populated CM Stacker 810. Moving to a pre-built would typically mean losing half my drives, minimum.

Or failing IPMI, just a s2011 Xeon board that supports AMT would be nice... Slowly beginning to think the board I want just doesn't exist and I'll have to compromise. IPMI loveliness with the Supermicro, but no in-built SAS, or more expansion with the Gigabyte with no IPMI or AMT.
