Bah, that would be nice. Right now my DVD player plays DivX fine even if it doesn't upscale amazingly well.

Nice! I like it when things are updateable as there are often bugs that are only found after release.

Is there anything anyone would like me to try out with this screen? I haven't figured out if I can get 1:1 pixel ratio yet, my HDMI to DVI lead should be here in a day or two and hopefully I should be able to try out some HD stuff from my laptop.

EDIT: What's so special about HDMI 1.3? I'm a bit of a noob to all this HD stuff... :o

MikeHunt79, did you ever try running video off a USB drive?
I was hoping I could replace AppleTV's "My Movies" with this USB slot - would save me enough cash to justify getting a TV from this new range :)
 
I didn't try that, but I'll give it a go tonight. What formats would you like me to try?

FWIW, I think it will only do JPG and MP3, I normally burn Xvids and WMV's to DVD-r and play them from my DVD player, but USB would be good tho as my DVD player doesn't upscale too well.

Also, check out the 7 series, I'd got wifi and all sorts of fancy things on, it may do what you're after...
 
Anyone with an A5 or A6 can you tell me if when you turn a source off (say a media center turning the monitor off after 2mins) if the TV displays a blue block saying "no signal" and just sits there, or if in fact Samsung have used their brains this time round and if the tv enters standby mode after 30sec or so?

EDIT: I shut down the macbook, and it still says searching for signal 5 minutes later...

No problem. FWIW, I tried a few 1080p files and it looks a lot nicer than standard def stuff... I'll see if I can get some pics later...
 
i've had my eye on these screens for a good few months now.

i soooooooooooo want one!

but 1.5 grand is a liiiiiiiiiitle over the top...

think i'm going to slowly save for it and hopefully by the time i have enough cash it would have come down in price a bit ;D (or something better will be out and i'll have to save even more for that, sod's law.)
 
Series 8 & 9 info is now around at the usual places (Engadget etc)

I might hold off on my Kuro purchase to see how the 950 (LED Backlit) compares to it :P
 
Saw Samsung's new series 9 in a shop over here, impossible to tell much about it due to the shop lighting, configuration and of course source material, but it did look pretty good. Not as good as the pricetag though (then again these department stores in Mexico are surprisingly expensive)
 
haha, yeah I'd still probably be more tempted to get the Kuro... if the 950 was say.. ~500-1000 LESS than the Kuro.. then hmmmmmmm!

But yeah i doubt that's gonna happen somehow!
