Hi, I'm building a new rig that will be used solely for CAD, Photo shop and possibly some 3D work. I did have my mind set on building an i7 950 rig, but I've been left over the holidays reading the deluge of Sandybridge reviews and articles. I have to say i am very very impressed with the results from these new Intel offerings!

The 2 areas I think I would like some input on are the motherboard and the RAM. I would generally always go with Asus, but the reviews I've seen for the MSI are very favorable and it seems to be as well specced as the Asus P67 offering. Also, the RAM, I was intent on using Mushkin this time round, but for love nor money can I find anyone in the UK supplying the 8gb Ridgeback kits, which is a shame because they seem to overclock well and seem to tighten down quite well also.

Here is my proposed build so far, it's changed quite a few times now and I keep tweaking it every so often....the gfx is absent because there's a Quadro going in there.

Also, the Samsung drives will be in RAID0 and there also 2x 300gb Velociraptors going in as RAID0 as well.

Any thoughts on what could be changed to make the system a little more balanced, or any glaring parts that are going to cause hassle, then feel free to tell me. I will be ordering probably by the end of the week, so still got time to change my mind about certain parts.

Oh and I cannot wait to get this on the test bench and see what these sandybridge chips are capable of in the flesh :D

Cheers,

G

Thinking of changing motherboard to Asus P8P67 DELUXE Intel P67, worth it? Would also consider a TUF model as well if they are available soonish...
