I have just put together a new build but it will not boot with 4 sticks of ddr3 in.

I have swapped the sticks round and they all work fine in slots 1 & 2 but put any in slots 3 and 4 and it will fail to boot. Switches on for about a second then off again in a loop. Tried 1.5v and 1.6v different timings and mhz but still the same.

Any thoughts people??

Tried 1 to 4 sticks and all voltages ok.

Its currently stripped out on the bench and seems to be running fine with all 4 sticks in..

Don't understand it. it running prime95 now for a hour or so and if passes will put in back in the case and try again..

Could possibly be something in the case causing a short circuit, when you took it out the case did you remove the cpu heatsink could possibly be too much/too little pressure causing the motherboard to bend.Apparently it's quite common place among intel chips because they don't use pins like AMD.

All seems very strange tho that it suddenly works outside the case

I am thinking a short myself. I haven't changed anything from it being in the case. Going to put in back in now so see how it goes..
