I’m currently looking for a scooter after my BMW G650 was written off. Decided to go back to a scooter(had one about 6 years ago).Living and coummting in London, I’m guessing it makes sense. The BMW was a great commuter but not going to buy another one.

The ones I’ve been looking at are.

Yamaha T Max
PIAGGIO MP3
PIAGGIO x10
BMW C600 Sport (not sure about paying £9500 for a scooter )
Suzuki Burgman 650

Out of the 5, I’m heading toward the Piaggio x10. It has some great reviews and well priced too.

If anybody has any of the above or knows a bit more, any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks for reading

How much are you thinking of spending? And do you want a comfort commuter or a sporty ride?

Top choices right now for big engined scoots fit what you are looking for so second hand is a good way to go, but stay away from the MP3 unless you have money to burn, the tires don't last long and maintaining the trick up front suspension can be very expensive. X10 being newly out of course you won't be able to get second hand but early signs are its a Burgman beater. A couple of people I know have X10's and are raving about them.

The Aprilia SRV850 (rebadged Gilera GP800) would be a choice as well...

I have a TMax in white, went from a Gilera Nexus 500 which was a great scoot but just recently sold it as the missus wouldn't let me keep two.

The Piaggio x10 (350 & 500) have indeed been getting good reviews and I'm somewhat interested in the 350 myself at under the £5k mark.

An instructor friend and his missus both have the Honda SH300i, for their London commutes (he also has a Triumph Sprint GT) and they're both impressed with them. The only downside (if it is one) would be the sit up and beg styling it seems.

Have you had a look at the Honda NC700 series? The NC700D Integra is most like a scooter, but they all provide a decent sized storage compartment under the faux tank and return excellent fuel economy.

Thank you all for your replies.

My budget is about 4K to 4.5K can go a bit more and yes looking for a 2nd hand one. After posting my original message. I did read up more about the MP3, it hasn’t had good reviews at all so not going to bother with that one.

The only thing as you said with the x10 it’s fairly new, so trying to get a 2nd had one is going to be a bit difficult. :(

I will look at the Aprilia SRV850, Honda SH300i and the Honda NC700 so thanks for the heads up on these.

Decisions decisions decisions

Aprilia and Honda are new as well so not in your budget, your best bet is a 2009 or 2010 Mk3 TMax (got mine for £4500), or Burgman (don't get less than a K7, the older models had issues), The SH300i is nice but small.. not much road presence.
