Im looking at updating/upgrading my current iiyama prolite E2273HDS for a new one.
Ive been running this one now for 4 years and i am looking for something new and improved so to speak.

I am primairly a MMO Gamer and spend several hours each night playing either WoW or SW:TOR.

I have recently upgraded my video cards to a set of 280x running in CF and after some initial teething problems seem to have them working together fairly well now.

I have been noticing some tearing and artifacting still every so often as well as what i would describe as the refesh rate showing on my monitor where i can see faint lines rising up the screen when my chosen games are running at 100 FPS or higher.

Yes i am aware i can set the games to use V-Sync but i enjoy the super smooth visuals i get when the framerates are running 100 FPS or more.

I have been looking at a few monitors recently all around the £250 - £350 price range and this is where im slowly getting lost.

Having and using Amd cards i feel i could benifet from a screen that supports Freesync and have seen 1 or 2 screens in my budget which would support this within my price range.
Then there is the question of screen size and resoloution, Currently i run at 1920 x 1080p but i am intreaged wether or not i would notice or benifet from a screen resoloution of 2560x1440 in 16:9 format or 2560x1080 in 21:10 format.

Then i have the dilema of whether to go for a standard 60Hz refresh rate or pay extra for a 144hz refresh rate.
One thing the monitor MUST have is a Vesa 100x100 mounting option as i use 2 Monitor arms on my desk to have 2 monitors side by side.
One i use for gaming etc the other for all other usefull junk like TS3, Monitoring software for cpu/gpu etc.

My current screen will not be retired it will just move down the pecking order and be used for my aux programs i keep open when gaming

So i have narrowed down my search slightly and found three monitors i like the look of but im still trying to decide which would be the better screen for my use.

the cheapest one

the middle one in price and also the Superwide

and the most expensive one

As you can see all three ive chosen so far have Freesync 2 are TN panels and 1 is IPS
As for the TN panel choice's i dont see too much of an issue as i currently am using a TN panel so there should be very little differrence in Colour however i should notice a differrence in the updated 1440k res and with 1 of them the 144hz refresh rate also.
My worries with the Superwide panel is it is still 1080p and from what ive been reading the 29" panels have the equiovelent size to a 24" screen with the exception of a greater field of View in games which support the SW res on the plus side though i should notice an improvment in colour reprodution, and to be honest after 4 years of gaming on a 27" panel i dont think i could go back to a smaller screen.
There is a 34" equivelent of the SW i have chosen but the price is just outside my comfort zone and the 1440k versions are way out of it.

On average i do spend a good 8 hours or more gaming each day so the screen will be seeing a lot of use if this helps in the choice.

R9 280x does not support Freesync as it is based on the 7970, but any 120/144hz gaming monitors would be suitable providing you can maintain sufficient fps to make good use of the high refresh rates.

Well after much thought, soul searching, and plain do i really need a new screen ive decided to go for this one.

It would appear to have everything i need/want, 2560x1440p res, 144hz refresh rate Vesa mountable, and Freesync.
The freesync part will probably not be usefull till i upgrade my video cards again in the next 6-12 months and with pricing unless there is a massive drop in NV gaming cards i will most likley stay with the AMD front.
