Just received a 2 gig SD card, bought for when i go on holiday in a couple of months.

Put card in camera and it read that it was just short of 2 gig, then i remember the instruction book stating its best to format a memory card, so i did...

Now it showing as just under 1gig!

Im guessing my Ixus II camera wasnt expecting there to be a 2 gig memory card.

Ive even bought a card reader and it shows as 1 gig and will only format that amount.

Can anyone help!?

Thanks

Not sure if this is correct, but worth a try....

Just make sure there is no "Protected" pics stored on the memory card.

Open up control panel, administrative tools, computer management, and goto Disk Managament, and then try repartitioning the card

Make sure you pick the right disk when you start messing with it ;).

Thanks for the advice, have opend up the disk management and it shows thats its partitioned, ive tried to undo the partition but cant find an option.

Any ideas ?

You should be able to delete the partition and recreate it.
But, can you see some free unpartitioned space at the end of the card?

it shows 970MB 'unallocated' but 'delete partition' isnt an option i can choose as its grayed out

did you format the card in the carmera? or have you used a 2 gb card in there before?

the ixus 2 might have an upper memory capacity of 1gb. if it was formated in camera it would probably read it as 1 gb. maybe a firmware upgrade would help.

The card showed as 2 gig when i put it in the camera, but following the instruction manual it sugests to format the card in the camera, thats when i ended up with a 1gig card!
im using the latest fimware already, will send card back and swop for 2x 1gig cards.

thanks
